Taken immediately after the first 2 beaks were added, these pictures show the wheel during the days of its first trial rotation.

21^st October: Completion of the first 2 beaks, a man works on the south-west beak, seen under the north-west beak.

21^st October: Similar view, taken after the addition of the beaks, but before the first trial rotation.

23^rd October: The wheel starts to move.

25^th October. By this date the wheel had moved round, in small steps, through nearly 180^o.

Rotation continues, Richard's "extra" arrives…
